Mures enters the National Seafood Industry Hall of Fame

At the 2022 National Seafood Directions Conference, it was announced the Mure Family were the latest inductees into the National Seafood Industry Hall of Fame! The Mure Family were absolutely thrilled to receive such an honour, and to have their contribution to the Australian seafood industry recognised in such a manner.

Founders George & Jill Mure first established the business in 1973 when they opened Mures Fish House in a small Victorian cottage in Hobart’s historic Battery Point. To source quality, fresh, local seafood George went fishing and so began Mures “hook-to-plate” philosophy.

Today Mures encompasses not just their three seafood restaurants and two fishing vessels, but two fishmongers retail outlets, a wholesale and processing division based in Cambridge, gourmet seafood product range, exclusive Tasmanian wine & cider range, and the educational program Mures Fish School.

Mures are proud to be Tasmanian, to be part of three incredible industries (seafood, tourism & hospitality), and to be advocates for sustainability and ocean welfare.

They wish to thank all their staff, supporters, and industry colleagues who have helped to shape the Mures Tasmania of today! As they continue to uphold the ethos created by George & Jill nearly fifty years ago, Mures very much look forward to sharing the next stage of their journey with you.
